University Research day

The Tamilnadu Dr. MGR medical University conducted a "University Research day" competition to upgrade the research aptitude in medical students. MBBS students in various professional years

including CRMI from around 57 medical colleges all over Tamilnadu,challenged their wits through various competitions that were held in multiple rounds, in which Five 2nd year MBBS students (2021

batch) of SVMCH&RI were selected in the prelims and participated in the finals at the university premises, Guindy, Chennai on September 26th 2023.

The immense support of our Medical director Prof. Dr. K.Prakasam sir who always stands for the  interests and wellbeing of his students played a vital role in their participation with added encouragement from The Dean Prof. Dr. Balasubramaniam the students went above horizons. The event exhibited various important research projects done in imminent institutions for students to embark on, Ms.A.Atchyasri presented a research poster on the topic 'Serum Cystatin C - A novel risk marker of dislipidemia' under the guidance of Dr. Sachu Philip Associate professor Dept. of Biochemistry and Ms.Riham Mehar  participated in an essay writing competition for which a topic was given on spot. Ms.H.Logashri Aparajitha and Ms.Riham mehar took part in rare case presentation at the preliminary Level on descending colorectal carcinoma with enterocutaneous fistula and oxytocin anaphylaxis respectively.

The Debate team comprising Ms.P. Shivani, Ms. S.Lakshana and Ms. H. Logashri Aparajitha competed against third year & pre final year mbbs students from reputed colleges in 3 fierce rounds, the team took a Clear, strong and vivid standpoint with heated arguments and amazing rebuttals they displayed pride and confidence in their speech winning FIRST place adding to the glory Ms.Atchyasri won SECOND in the English Just A Minute speech competition, which was held in three rapid rounds where in the students were judged on their critical thinking, Content, fluency and oratory skills. This competition provided a great learning platform for students to learn from and created stepping stones for various research projects to be done in the future.

The prize winners were invited for a separate award ceremony on October 9th and were honored with a certificate and medal by M.Subramanian the Hon'ble Minister of Medical and Family welfare held at The Tamilnadu Dr MGR medical University,Guindy,chennai. The institution and Staff are proud of their talents and highly appreciate the enthusiasm of these students and their achievements!
