Biochemistry is the branch of science that deals with the chemical basis of life. It tells one about the numerous molecules present in our body and the transformation they under go both in health and in disease. The Department of Biochemistry is involved in academic, diagnostic and research activities.

The Department focuses on facilitating the understanding of the subject by the undergraduate student and its application on the clinical side.

The Department’s diagnostic laboratory is well equipped with state of art facilities, latest equipment and skilled laboratory personnel and offers round the clock services in an effort to provide quality health care services to patients.         The Laboratory carries out investigations like Plasma Glucose, Lipid profile, Renal function tests, Liver function tests, Serum electrolytes and Arterial blood gas analysis. The Laboratory also has the facilities to conduct specialized tests like estimation of hormones, tumor markers etc.

The Department has a well equipped research lab to carryout research programs.
