Swamy Vivekanandha Medical College Hospital, Tiruchengode observed World Cancer Day today headed by the Medical Director Dr.K.Prakasam.

World Cancer Day aims to promote awareness on cancer as a public health issue and to strengthen actions towards improving access to quality care, screening, early detection, treatment and palliative care. This year’s theme marks the second year of the campaign “close the care gap” which is about understanding the inequities in cancer care and taking actions to make the necessary progress to address them.

On this day, along with the Medical Director Dr.K.Prakasam, the Dean Dr.S.Balasubramaniam, Medical Superintendent Dr.Manoharan, Resident & Administrative Medical Officer Dr.Somasundaram, Head of Departments, Professors, Doctors, Nursing Superintendents, Staff Nurses, 300 Medical students and 200 Nursing students participated in a rally for raising the awareness on Cancer.

Followed by the rally, a speech on the awareness on cancer was given by Medical Director Dr.K.Prakasam, where doctors, medical & nursing students along with patient attenders participated. The event was coordinated by Dr.Saravana Kumar from General Surgery department, ARMO Dr.Prasanna Balaji and PRO team.
