The Department of General Surgery at SVMCH & RI is at the forefront of teaching the principles & art of surgery to educate & train the medical students.

The department is providing regular surgical interventions in multiple fields including Minimal Access Surgery, Gastrointestinal Surgery, Hepatobiliary &Pancreatic surgery, Plastic & Reconstructive and Vascular surgeries. All faculty members are proficient in surgical procedures, each has a core area of interest on which they conduct research. The department has fully equipped with the latest surgical equipment. Operative manual and instrumental techniques are followed to investigate and(or) treat a pathological condition such as a disease or an injury, to help improve bodily function or appearance are one of the major involvements of the department.
