COCHLEAR IMPLANTS
Academic contribution of Continuous Medical Education(CME) programme conducted by ENT department on the day of 17.11.22 from 11 am to 12.30 pm at library hall, Swamy Vivekanandha Medical College and Hospital on the topic of "COCHLEAR IMPLANTS" . Proper invitation was given to all the department faculties and higher officials. On the day, we invited the guest speaker Prof and HOD Dr. S. Palaniappan MS ENT, DLO. from government KAP viswanathan medical college trichy. On the day, the program was scheduled as welcome address started at 11 am by Dr. A. Sivakumar,PROF and HOD of ENT. Then the inaugural function was addressed by Medical Director Prof Dr. K. Prakasam MS ORTHO and felicitation done by Prof.Dr. A. Edwin Joe, MD Forensic medicine and BL, Dean of this college.
Followed by that, the session was started with preliminary introduction of the speaker DR. VAIBHAVI KR, MS ENT, Senior Resident, Dept of ENT. From 11.20 to 1 pm,elaboration details of cochlear implants presented with PPT slides and with relevant video clippings by the speaker. The session was chaired by ENT HOD Dr. A. Sivakumar and Dr. M. Rajendran, HOD OF GS. The session condense were anatomy of inner ear, selection of patients for cochlear implants, the important steps of the operative procedure, the different types of cochlear implants and the coverage of CM health insurance of Tamilnadu state for the implants. Various doubts by audience, faculties and medical students were cleared by the chief guest Dr. S. Palaniappan. Feedback from the medical students and faculties were obtained.
Then the complements for the chief guest with certificates were given by the MD. Momentos for the chaired person prof M. Rajendran and MEU co ordinator prof P. Sasikala Department of anatomy were given. Lastly the vote of thanks was given by Dr. K. R. Vaibhavi. Followed by that, the national anthem with closure of the function was done. The certificates for the participants and the resource person were given within a week.

Observance of World Leprosy Day - 30.01.2023
The National Leprosy Eradication Day was observed on 30.01.2023 in Swamy Vivekanandha Medical College Hospital and Research Institute, Tiruchengode. In the view of above, a Continuous Medical Education Program was conducted in Swamy Vivekanandha Medical College Hospital and Research Institute. Our respected Medical Director, Prof. Dr. K. Prakasam, MS, D.Ortho, D.Sc (Hons)., and our respected Dean, Prof. Dr. A. Edwin Joe, MD, BL., headed the Continuous Medical Education Program. The Deputy Director of Health Services – Leprosy, Namakkal District, Dr. A. Jayanthinie, DDVL., attended the Continuous Medical Education Program as a Chief Guest. Prof. Dr. K. Muthukumar, MD., welcomed the Medical Director, Dean and all the faculties who attended the Continuous Medical Education Program.Our Medical Director, Prof. Dr. K. Prakasam, MS, D.Ortho, D.Sc (Hons)., in his inaugural address shared his experience in the eradication of Leprosy in his vast medical journey of more than 5 decades.
The Chief Guest Dr. A. Jayanthinie, DDVL., The Deputy Director of Health Services – Leprosy, Namakkal District talked about the signs and symptoms of Leprosy, various methods to find them out, different medicines and treatment regimens for Leprosy. Also she pointed out that if the Leprosy is diagnosed at an earlier stage it is 100 % curable. She mentioned about the various monetary benefits and rehabilitation measures provided by the Government of Tamil Nadu to the Leprosy patients and their families.
All the Doctors, Medical Students and Paramedical workers undertook the Anti - Leprosy Oath.
Finally the 1st MBBS students (2022 Batch) made a Leprosy awareness rally from Ulagappampalayam to Elayampalayam. In the CME Program our Medical Superintendent, Prof. Dr. M. Manoharan, MS., and Resident Administrative Medical Officer, Dr. S. Somasundaram, MS., also participated.

Our department had the privilege of hosting CME on "Basic Facts of Psoriasis" on June 14, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Library Hall, as a part of the medical education unit of SVMCHRI. Prof. Dr. K. Prakasam, M.S., D. Ortho., D.Sc (Hons)., Medical Director, SVMCHRI, and Prof. Dr. A. Edwin Joe, M.D., B.L., Dean, SVMCHRI, addressed the gathered faculty and students of the first and second year of MBBS. Our guest speaker, Dr. G. Balaji, M.D., Associate Professor and HOD, Department of DVL, Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College and Hospital, Salem, addressed the attendees a thorough overview of the fundamentals of skin lesions, basic facts, diagnostic clues, complications, and medical care of psoriasis. CME on “FEVER AND ITS APPROACH”
Department of General Medicine, Swamy Vivekanandha Medical College Hospital and Research Institute has conducted a CME on “FEVER AND ITS APPROACH” on 15.12.2023 at the Library Hall. The programme was conducted to provide basic information about Fever and how to approach fever by diagnosis, how to start antibiotics and fever as syndromic approach to Ist & IInd MBBS students. Our Medical Director Prof Dr.K.Prakasam , M.S (Ortho) D.Ortho., D.Sc(Hons) & Dean Prof Dr.Balasubramanian M.S, has inaugurated the programme. The Chief Guest and speaker of the day Dr.B.Bakthavachalam M.D enlightened us with his commendable talk and shared so much inquisitive facts on approach tofever. The Lecture is followed by felicitation of the speakers by Our Medical Director Prof Dr.K.Prakasam and felicitation of the chairpersons were done by Assoc.Prof.Dr.C.Sujeetha Department of General Medicine, Swamy Vivekanandha Medical College Hospital and Research Institute. Nearly 88 doctors including HOD’s, Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, Senior Resident’s and Junior resident’s of various Departments , all the Ist & IInd MBBS students has attended the programme. PEDIATRICS CME BRIEF
We the Department of Pediatrics of SVMCH&RI had the esteemed opportunity to conduct the February month CME on DENGUE FEVER, which was successfully conducted on 29th Feb 2024. The CME was presided over by our esteemed Chief Guest Professor Dr.K.Prakasam sir our beloved medical director.Guests of honour were our respected Dean professor Dr.S.Balasubramanian sir along with our medical superintendent ,vice principal, RAMO. The guest speaker for the day was our respected Professor Dr.K.Rangasamy HOD Department of pediatrics Vinayaga Missions Medical College Salem, who enriched our esteemed audience and our 2nd year MBBS students with indepth knowledge and his vast experience about dengue fever. The session was chaired by our own Professor Dr.N.Dhanasekar sir Prof HOD department of Microbiology and our Prof Dr.N.Balasubramanian sir HOD department of Pediatrics. The CME was a roaring success.
We the Department of Pediatrics are thankfull for the opportunity and we also look forward eagerly to conduct future CME in our esteemed institute.
Continuing medical education (CME) program on 28-03-2024 The topic “ ABDOMEN - THE PANDORA’S BOX “
The Department of General surgery and Medical education unit, Swamy Vivekananda medical college under the auspices of the tamilnadu Dr. MGR medical university conducted the Continuing medical education (CME) program on 28-03-2024 between 9 am to 1.30 pm @ Library hall, SVMCH & RI. The topic for the day was “ ABDOMEN - THE PANDORA’S BOX “ . The CME program was accredited 1 credit hour by Tamilnadu Dr. MGR medical university.
The program started with scientific session;
1) Talk on approach to acute abdomen-by Dr. Gowrishankar
2) Followed by acute appendicitis by Dr. Tharunh.
This was followed by a tea break and then the inaugural function started.
After Prayer song and lighting of lamp, honouring of all the dignitaries followed it.
The stage was enlightened by our most respectful dignitaries….. Prof.Dr.K.PRAKASAM sir, most beloved medical director, Dean Dr.S.Balasubramaniam, esteemed chief guest of the day-Dr.S.Easwaramoorthy, Resident administrative medical officer Dr.Somasundaram, Vice principal Dr.Milind Bhutkar, Head of department of general surgery, Dr.M.Rajendran.
After felicitation of our distinguished guests welcome address was given by Dr.M.Rajendran HOD, followed by inaugral address by Dean Dr.S.Balasubramaniam and then Presidential address by our most beloved medical Director Prof.Dr.K.PRAKASAM.
This was followed by an unexpected event of honouring our most dynamic,ever active, belligerent and most beloved medical director Prof.Dr.K.PRAKASAM SIR for his contributions and continuos years of dedicated service in INDIAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION in state and national level and was honoured with garland, momento and shawl by all the distinguished guests of the day.
And then the introduction of the speaker by Dr.P.Saravana Kumar….which was followed by the much awaited scientific session talk by the chief guest Dr.S.Easwaramoorthy M.S.,FRCS.,CCST(U.K). The topic was ; TOP 10 ABDOMINAL SIGNS…. It was very much appreciated and interesting to all the undergraduate students and the faculties. The last topic for the scientific session was completed by Dr.P.Saravana Kumar- Top 10 X-ray signs in Acute abdomen. This was followed by vote of thanks by Dr. Cynthia…. The day was completed by National anthem and followed by lunch.
The whole day’s event was very well organised by Dr.P.Saravana Kumar., senior assistant professor and the day’s events were very much appreciated by all the people.

Department of Microbiology, Swamy Vivekanandha Medical College Hospital and Research Institute has conducted a CME on 30.4.2024 at the Library Hall. The event, titled "FIGHTING ANTIMICROBIAL RESISTANCE AND PROTECTING GLOBAL PUBLIC HEALTH," provided essential information on optimizing antibiotic use and combating resistance.Our beloved Medical Director, Prof. Dr. K. Prakasam, M.S. (Ortho), D.Ortho., D.Sc. (Hons), and Dean, Prof. Dr. S. Balasubramanian, M.S., inaugurated the program. The gathering was welcomed by Dr. A. Dhanasekaran, M.D.,DCH, Professor and Head of Microbiology. Dr. K.K. Kavitha, M.D., Assistant Professor of Microbiology, introduced the speaker.The Chief Guest and speaker of the day, Dr. K.M. Mohanasoundaram, M.D., Professor and Head of Microbiology at Govt Erode Medical College Hospital, Perundurai, delivered an engaging and illustrative lecture highlighting the importance of appropriate antibiotic selection, strategies to reduce antibiotic resistance, and their impact on patient safety and public health. The session was chaired by Prof. Dr. A. Dhanasekaran.,M.D.,DCH, Professor and Head of Microbiology and Dr. C. Sujeetha, M.D., Associate Professor of General Medicine.The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. L. Shiva Shankari, M.D., Assistant Professor of Microbiology. Nearly 150 doctors, including Heads of Departments, Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, Senior Residents, and Junior Residents from various departments, along with all second-year MBBS students, attended the program, making it a memorable event.
